it started with a love of one local yarn…

Our story -

In 2017, we moved back to the Midwest after a decade in Alaska. We found our home in Wisconsin and quickly transitioned into the local yarn scene. With the help of a mill, we developed our beloved Moraine line of yarn. We loved it and our customers loved it.

The mill that had helped us was for sale and we toyed with the idea of buying it in 2018 but it wasn’t the right time. When we found out that the owner was very serious about selling it in 2024, we explored the idea more intently. It turned out for a variety of reasons that it wasn’t meant to be, so we pivoted and started exploring other options for bringing our beloved Moraine home. We found a Belfast Mini Mill for sale in Eau Claire and inquired about it, sadly it had just sold - literally a week after being listed.

So, on a whim, we decided to contact Belfast directly to see what their wait time was. We’d always heard that it was a year or two to get machinery. Much to our surprise, we found out the wait time was 6-8 months at that time, so we added our name to the wait list. We got an even bigger surprise when an email came in just a few weeks later saying they had all the machines we wanted ready to ship! The next question was, were we ready?

It turns out that we were. After many phone calls and emails with Belfast, meeting with our incredible Commercial Lender, Molly, and lots of late nights planning, we took delivery of our machines in January 2025 and hit the ground running.

Our mission -

Our goal is to support the fiber producers of the Upper Midwest by offering another processing option and another outlet for their fibers. There are a handful of excellent mills in Wisconsin, and the nice thing is that we don’t all offer the same services. By adding to the diversity of services offered, we want to support producers that are looking to add value to their fiber by processing it or to sell their fiber to a mill.
